A Principle to Keep

Throughout the novel "The Road", the father and the son try to live in a post-apocalyptic world in a way which they keep certain principles in their lives. In "The Road" the bloodcults are an example of a group of people who seem to have lost all meaning of principles as they murder those trying to survive and devour them as well. Faced with the destruction of the world, keeping to your principles could be the last thing on anyone's mind, but keeping them can be considered one of the most important things. If I had to choose a principle to keep, it would have to be the principle of cooperation. Although there are a multitude of other principles that seem much more important to keep, there is a reason why this one is important to me. Cooperation is what makes the world work, a group of people working together towards a common goal. Of course, depending on what the goal is, means everything. For example, the bloodcults cooperate. They are a group of people who cooperate towards their common goal of trying to survive through unethical means. But, what say if a group of people were to cooperate for a common goal that were to benefit humanity. In "The Road" the father and the son not only survive, but keep basic human principle, say if there were a group of these people just like the father and son. Working together to create something out of society, to go back to what the world once was. If everyone were able to cooperate with each other and try to restore society, there is absolutely no doubt that it could be done.
